I have 5 devices which output optical audio and only 2 optical audio inputs on my AV receiver. Can anyone suggest a switchbox which can switch between multiple optical (TOSlink) inputs? I am aware of the table-top model from Radio Shack, but it's not exactly what I'm looking for. I prefer something with switches/buttons on the front.

Any help/suggestions appreciated.

After some searching, I found a good one at www.accessorywarehouse.com. Here's a description.

4x2 Optical Digital Audio Selector - Remote controlled switcher allows you to instantly choose between up to four digital audio sources. Can be installed in minutes with no complicate wiring or setup required. Features 4 TOS-link Digital Optical inputs to 2 TOS-link Digital Optical outputs. Includes infrared remote control and plug-in AC power supply. SRP $159.95.

The selling price was around $100, which I feel is pretty good. I couldn't find a brandname on the item and the person who took the order was clueless....

Here's a pic of what it looks like. It should blend in nicely with my audio/video gear.

Radio Shack also carries an a/v switcher that will switch toslink and has push buttons on the front and can be remote controlled. check it out!

Yes. I received the optical switch 4 business days after ordering. It works as I expected, has a small footprint, and appears to be exactly what I wanted. I'm pleased with the purchase.

I'm looking for a switcher too and this is what I've found on the wed. The Audiio Authority can also convert coax and optical " accepts both optical signals (TosLink) and coax signals (S/PDIF RCA) and automatically converts them to provide both types of outputs to the sound system, thereby eliminating compatibility problems between products with differing digital connections."

the $20 radio shack seem not to have a power adapter. Who need one more power adapter to plug in?

The Radio Shack one doesn't use a power supply. Just a simple rotary switch. no remote control though. The one I linke above is an audio/video switcher that switches toslink also and will work via IR remote.
