Hey I recently bought a new home theatre in a box and along with it I got an optical digital input to connect my playstation 2 to my home theatre.

I been facing some problems in that when I connect my ps2 to my home theatre through the optical input the sound flickers a lot as in it isn't consistent one moment you can hear the sound the next you can not.

This is a link to my home theatre(replace the xx with tt)

If you have a coaxial digital audio connection try using it. If the problem persists then the optical cable is not at fault.

Otherwise consider the probable/possible failure points

-the optical cable is not seated snuggly at one or both ends

-the cable has a physical break in the optical path (it is defective).

-the Toslink module in the sending or receiving unit is defective or has an intermittent connection to the PCB.

-the noise comes from something else entirely, e.g. a loose speaker connection.

Swap out cables. If that doesn't fix the problem try wiggle the connectors to see if it is at one end or the other. If you are handy with an iron it is possible to buy a replacement Toslink module, but most of us would be looking to service or sale.
