Bits are bits. They either get from one end of the cable to the other or they don't. An analog signal can be "colored" by the quality of the cable, but a digital signal cannot. Don't let anyone try to fool you with pseudo-science into believing differently.

coaxial is chosen alot because of the flexibility. you can bend,squish, tie in a knot and it still works. you gotta be much more careful with optical cables

This question has been asked by somebody literally every few months. It has been debated to death, with no real consensus. A search of the Audio forums will turn up many hits (last debate was started only last week :))
