Optimal Screen for HDR?

713 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  etherealsound
Hello,

So I am currently wracking my brain over which screen to purchase for my theater and was hoping to get some further insight after digging through tons of old posts here.

My projector is the Epson 6050UB and I am in a completely light controlled environment with matte black/dark ceilings, walls, floors.
My screen size is going to be 48 x 115 in a 2.4:1 aspect ratio giving me about 125 inches of diagonal viewing.

I'm trying to decide between the Stewart Screen ST100 and the ST130. As this will be my first time using a projector with HDR, can anyone please comment on how much additional brightness is actually needed for HDR content? Would the ST100 be enough or is the ST130 a better option?

I thank everyone for any input.

Have you tried samples of both?
That screen is not very large and with that projector it looks like your FLs will be in the 40s depending on your throw. Plenty for HDR in that room.
It looks like the ST100 would be plenty but maybe check with someone who has tried both or get samples yourself.
I've not tried samples. I've been asking around and looking at other threads but just thought I might get some more answer by making a thread with more details.

I prefer the StudioTek 130 or Cima Neve for HDR myself. I have a 128" diagonal ST130 2.35:1 screen in my theater. I love it. Here are some screen shots off mine.

Get samples and check them out yourself. PM me if you need some.

I ended up going with the ST130. I'm sure I won't be disappointed.
