I'm looking at the Optoma Movietime DV-10 and getting very tempted because of the convenience, but first I have a few general everyday usability questions about front projectors. (As a little background, I had a 2000 Toshiba 40H80 RPTV as my everyday TV for 4 years, and I really enjoyed it as my everyday TV set.)
1) Brightness/Ambient Light -
I know the FPs work best at low light, and for DVDs that's probably fine, I can watch at night. But football is broadcast during the day. So on the occasion that I want to watch it on a projector is it going to be as watchable as a DLP RPTV if both were shown at the same 50" screensize?
From a samsung spec sheet, I dug up the following: Brightness (cd/m-sq): 71"=500, 61"=600, 56"=700, 50"=800. how does that compare to lumens?
2) Projector Bulb care/lifetime -
I have read about the FP bulb lifetime issues and how people are reluctant to constantly turn their projector on/off during the course of the day. Why is that not an issue with RPTVs?
Thanks for your help.
