Optoma GT1080Darbee Projector Screen Fabric and Positioning

Hey Everyone, first time posting here.

I'm designing my own budget motorized projector screen for my short throw Optoma GT1080Darbee using a reflective grey projector screen fabric I got from AliExpress. After trying it out I immediately realized that it's not working well since a lot of brightness was lost and seeing some hot-spots as well.

And also I have a very low to the ground seating which makes the screen way above my head, about 1 meter above my head to the bottom of the screen. Before having the screen, the projector was situated on high but not blocking stand and projecting on a big empty popcorn wall. I fixed the keystone in the projector so that the view of the image would look good enough to my vision tilted upwards but of course ended with angled side edges. So I thought of improving on that by tilting the fabric from the bottom backward (away from me) and by adjusting the keystone as well to eventually have an image whose sides are straight. I'm going to have the projector mounted on the ceiling to have a cleaner setup (wires out of the way, etc...).

The design of the setup and the screen is still ongoing and some pictures of the current situation can be viewed in the links in my signature below (sorry I still can't put images or links here).

So long story short,
1) I'm wondering if anyone could recommend for me a suitable fabric that could improve on the contrast and if possible (not mandatory though) reject some ambient light. I tried to search for quite some time on the forum but couldn't seem to find an answer. Are the ones colored light grey or simple white the best?
2) Would the fabric screen work properly when tilted as I'm saying or is there a better way to do it to accommodate for the low seating?

Ok so I'm having a hard time to share the Pics or links, even my signature isn't showing up for some reason. Is there another way to do this?
Nvm finally the signature showed up, sorry for any inconveniences.
The problem with tilting either the PJ or Screen is that the focus will be out from the point where you adjusted it. Top good? Bottom bad....or vice vesa

The 1080D is a short throw PJ, and the material was very angular reflective.

The best (ie: easiest and least expensive...) solution would be to switch to Carl's Flexi-Grey, as that would help with your blacks.

There is nothing you can get & use with a short throw that can actually "reject" ambient light from any particular direction. Your own experience validates that premise.

Instead what you need is a "Color" that "resists" the effects of ambient light.

Screen size and PJ Lumen output delivered to a Grey screen will determine how effective the combination works. Optimization / balancing the Lumen available with the given Screen size and color is the formula that needs to be refined.

So.........................how large a screen do you have now,and is that the size you'll keep if you redo the surface?

Supply that info and we're off to the Races!

MississippiMan thanks a lot for the reply! Right now I have the screen width at 245cm (96.4in) by height 150cm (59in). My aim is to keep the width and achieve 16:9 ratio so technically height is in excess but that won't be a problem with my motorized setup.

Your point on the tilting problem does make a lot of sense. I'll let go of that thought till I get the screen fabric correct.
I've done some searching on Carl's Flexi-Grey and screens with similar material, have spent quite some time on it since your reply. The thing is I live in the Middle East and was hoping to have a budget setup with this and it seems that shipping is quite expensive for Carl's Flexi-Grey (126$ for the 112inch-diag folded one). My head is kind of stuck at screens that would cost around the 50$ range however I can't seem to find something like that even on AliExpress which tends to have cheaper alternatives.
(Sorry for the multiple posts, just wanted that 5 post count to get links privilege)

I was barely able to find one but I'm still searching: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000108020390.html

Bottom line I have feeling that I should stay away from the reflective and ALR types right? Just a plain gray/light gray and PVC or matte finish would best suite my projector?
If you can accept the risk of using a $50.00 material to show you your Image, here's hoping that works out for you!

In any case, if you choose a Light to Mid Tone Grey PVC Vinyl material @ 1.0 Gain that is extremely smooth, then that would be best.

I feel something is screwing with your Freight Estimate.

First off, I'm wondering if the Vendor you choosing for the Carl's is a 3rd Party Vendor. Carl's would NOT ship that size a screen folded...it would come "Rolled" and in a 60" Long Packing Tube sent USPS Priority International (5-6 Days) and the shipping charge would be about 1/2 as much ($65-70.00 USD)

A Carl's Vendor on Amazon or other such sites will getcha good for Freight...and no matter whose material or screen you buy, YOU DO NOT WANT IT TO COME FOLDED IN A BOX......
