Optoma H30 image changes proportion via HTPC

Hi, I cannot understand the problem I now have after attaching my projector to my MCE PC via component. I use component and SVHS from my DVD and Sky [UK Satellite] respectively and these produce a perfect 16:9 image perfectly masked by the screen borders.

I have now fed a HD 720P image to the projector from the PC and now the image is just as wide but now taller and overspills the screen and nothing I do seems to solve this problem. If I change the zoom so that the height matches my screen then the width is 3-4" too small. Phase and vertical / horizontal adjustment doesn't help either.

I know this projector is a native 800 x 600 panel which switches off pixels for 16 : 9 display - is this problem related to this issue?

Sorry for such a basic question, but I am rather hoping the answer is basic too :)

powerstrip the software is your friend in these situations..... Do a google search under "Powerstrip"
This doesn't do the trick - it helps, but the image is so significantly larger in size that via SVHS or seperate DVD player
bump..still need some help with this
