I have couple of year old Optoma HD70 projector. I recently installed it on the ceiling.When I started the projected, it worked fine for few minutes and then the image froze and eventually disappeared. All I see now is randon black spots (almost like white noise) and nothing else. No menu options or any other system messages. I do think that it is responding to the menu since it will shut down if I press the power button twice.


Is this a bulb issue or the color wheel issue or the system board issue? I dont want to spend money on the bulb not knowing if that is the issue, since I see the white light on the screen.


Any help would be great. If it is the color wheel, where can I buy the color wheel?

Definitely NOT a bulb issue and unlikely that the color wheel is the culprit. It is either the DLP array or the image processor. Either way, the projector is toast. The cost of repair would be prohibitive.

Probably a circuit fry - however:


If not under warranty, open it up completely and suck out every speck of dust and make sure the color wheel is clean. Reassemble and pray.


Plan B: Sell for parts and get an HD65 for $495 from a BB that still has one in stock and wants to clear it.
