OK say you have an original Panamorph and the projector is mounted without a tilt and the resulting image is only 78% compressed...

How noticeable will the difference be between that and a proper 75% compressed image on a 16:9 8' wide screen? Will it be noticeable at all?

Is the bigger problem a problem with fitting it on a 16:9 screen?

Thanks,

Cameron

That will make a 1.85 image almost exactly fill the 16:9 screen, and a 1.77 image be about 4% higher than your screen.

Cameron,

Since 0.78 / 0.75 = 1.04; the image will be about 4%

taller than it should be.

I don't know if I could detect a 4% change or not.

Likewise, if you tilt the projector - you can get the

exact aspect ratio at the cost of a modest degree of

keystoning. Again, I don't know if I could detect the

keystone distortion.

Like many products, projectors included; there's no

perfect solution. According to Shawn, these small

distortions are not noticeable.

When I can detect keystoning, it really annoys the heck out of me. On the other hand I am not sure how much I would notice a 2" height difference for 16:9 material.

If you are using a screen with a light absorbing border, the minor keystone could easily be overscaned into the border. I don't think you could notice it in the image itself. Just a guess...ymmv

I guess that could work out with my Ve-Lux border. It definitely saps up the light.
