Trying to help my neighbor set up his Mits SR-HD5 STB. Brought along my trusty DTC100 for signal reference. Gave him an old Hovermann UHF antenna, and once hooked up to my DTC100, got signal strengths in the high 80's and 90's for all local ATSC (ex. CBS-60 came in at 94). Then, when I swapped over to the SR-HD5, signal strength went down to zero! Tried everything--tuning in manually (Ch. 2-1, 60, 60-1) rescanned, no success. One thing I did notice was that channel 60 was labeled as ANALOG. Wondering if the STB is treating it as NTSC instead of ATSC, which would explain why I was getting the "Channel Unavailable" message. Is there some sort of toggle that allows me to designate a channel as digital?

Thanks!

You did connect the antenna to the antenna in and not Sat in right?

I performed the same upgrade last weekend. Okay, Okay I hooked up and plugged in the Mits. With the DTC-100 received signal strength for the locals in the 80s and low 90s.

The path I used with Mits = Setup Menu/Installation/Local Area/Scan

After the scan all locals come in with a signal strength of 100.

If that does not work I would suspect a defective unit.

Good Luck

Rick

It wasn't receiving ANY digital stations.

Yes, I did connect to ANT IN. I suspect it's defective as well. Thanks for the response!
