Anyone live in Staten Island , NY??? or at least around there? I have searched and I am lost. If someone here can help me that would be great. 1) What are people using as Ant. for OTA HD or dig broadcasts for the SI, NY area? I have heard that just a simple rabbit ear ant will do. Is that true?

2) When people talk about receiving broadcasts in HD they say for example that ch 2 in NY is 2-1, or PBS is 43-2...fox is 5-2 UPN 5-3...what the hell does that stand for???

3) Alot of people say that there are more broadcasts in HD on UHF....CH 2 CBS OTA HD is still on VHF correct??? PBS is UHF....??? Im confused. Will I have to turn to 43 to receive PBS HD???

I get WCBS-DT on UHF 56.1, Fox on UHF 44.1 and UPN on 44.2. But such UHF channels are often 'remapped' by HDTV tuners, using digital data in the signal, to correspond closer to standard VHF channel numbers of the same station. Although some VHF HDTV channels exist, most digital channels are UHF, and are 'invisible' on standard UHF tuners that lack the needed digital circuits. Ordinary rabbit ears tune VHF, although some rabbit-ear antennas include a bow-tie or similar UHF section.-- John
