I'd like to try getting OTA HD but I live, like most people in NYC, I live in an apartment so I cannot get an outside antenna. I live on the 4th floor facing north on the UES. Has anyone had any success with a simular apartment and can you tell me what receiver and antenna you use? I do Have TWC cable and their HD box but woud like to try getting the OTA HD stations and save the extra money for DTV just to get HD stations. My concern is that since I dont have an outside antenna that I will get bad reception or reception not worht getting OTA HD. As far as a receiver, I have read about the about the LST-4200A and the LG3510A, Would the 4200a replace the bd-v3510HD box? and are there any other upcoverting DVD player/HDTV tuner combination boxes?

thanks

You should wait until the 5th generation reception chips come out. LG Electronics says that their units will have these shortly after the new year in Jan 2005. The existing chips get good reception in many places but very poor reception in NYC where there are signal reflections off the nearby buildings creating multipath. The 5th generation chips are reported to have excellent multipath handling capabilities. One electronics writer tested the new chips in NYC and was able to receive many channels whereas before he only got one channel.

Thanks Rick, any idea what antenna would be best in my situation. I read about a $50 Radio shack Indoor antenna, and 2 Terk antennas, a HDTVi and TV55. Any of these work well in NYC?
I have used outdoor antennas extensively but I think others in this forum can better advise you on the best indoor antennas. There are many people that advise against the Terk antennas however.
