OTA only?

683 Views 13 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  DrDon
Hi,

I am looking for a OTA box only. My cable is going HD in the fall so I am not in the market for a dish STB just a OTA.

Can someone recommend a good one for a decent price?

Thanks

Check out the thread call Run to Best Buy!!!!!!!!!!
I ran there yesterday, only to find they were sold out of HDTV OTA boxes!

Thanks
Basically, it's make your best deal wherever you can find one. I picked up a Samsung T-151. It's ATSC-only, but makes for a dandy second receiver. I have a Zenith DTV-1080 as my main receiver. The Sammy spends most of its time on a standard-def TV.

You can see the STB Review sticky at the top of the page for all you'll ever need to know.

I just ordered a Samsung SIR-T151 on E-bay with a factory warranty delivered for $285. I stopped by BB for an open box special and it didn't have anything but the receiver itself and they wanted $329!!!

Good Luck,

Marc
Try a walk-away deal. My local electronics store wanted $350 for an open box 151 w/remote, cables, manual, warranty card. I pulled $270 out of my pocket and said, "This is all I have. Take it or leave it." They took it. (Of course, I had another $20, but they didn't need to know that).

Josh125, Try and bring yhe BB ad to CC and see if they will honor it. Seems a few people have had luck. Let me know what happens.
I also read that, but it is too late now! Oh well, I think I might be going sat anyway. I do have a question about the hughs 86. I of course would use it for Direct TV but also for my OTA channels. Would I need seperate component cabels to run both of these or could I use the same one out of the box to the TV.

The reason I ask, my TV only has 2 component inputs and I am already using one for my DVD.

Thanks
The Hughes, or any other STB only has one set of component outputs, if I understand your question.

Doc
you plug your OTA coax into the e86. both your D and OTA would go thru the one single set of component cables from the e86 to the TV component input.
Thanks, that's what I was looking for. I'm still on the fence as to what to do.... stick it out with charter or switch to direct tv.
Josh - I have a Psnny TU-DST 52 I don't need. PM me if you are interested.
Has anyone had problems with the 151 remote? I had to go through all the codes to find one that works with my Sony XBR (063). However, the volume keys dont seem to work. I programmed the remote for another TV I had and still does not operate. I am wondering if its my remote or a general Sammy remote problem. Can anyone comment?
Viduser..

I have the same problem with a KV-9PT20. Of course, the question is, "what am I doing using an HDTV STB with a 9-inch NTSC set?" However, no, the volume keys don't work for it, either. I figured they just didn't bother to program it with codes for non-HD sets...

Bet it works with Samsung sets, though .
