I got the EVA8000 in and it's been working ok for me. I see a lot of other users with issues on the Netgear forums. It's not perfect by any means, but it's not the worst thing I have ever used. It's simple and has been playing 99% of what I have. It's just no where near complete.
What I want to do is replace my HTPC. I play 99% of the time DivX/Xvid movies. Maybe I will set up a playlist for a party or something, but it's mostly movies. I would like HDMI and 1080p output.
Am I stuck with the EVA?
