Ottawa Area: Good condition used theatre seats

230 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  KFung
I just picked up 15 theatre seats today for $25 CAN/each. They're from a government building being remodelled and the guys doing the demolition needed to get rid of 250 seats from the theatre in the building. Check out Sunday's Pennysaver on the third page, 827-2796 is the contact number.

The seats are in pretty good condition, they haven't seen hard use like commercial theatre seats. They are upholstered in an orange woven fabric which is not so great, but the seats break-down into their component parts pretty easily and they look like they could be re-upholstered with little difficulty.

When I talked to the guy he said that he had gotten quite a few inquiries, I think a lot of them are getting picked up today so move fast if you're interested!

Good luck,

Kam Fung

Hey Kam, thanks for the heads-up. I'd have been real interested int this (I'm in Ottawa and everything!) Unfortunately it's probably too late for this guy and too early for me to be buying seats -- the plans for my theatre aren't firm and we might not even be in this house for much longer.

Oh well...

I know the feeling, those seats are going to be sitting around in my garage for at least 4 months before I can put them to any kind of use. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/frown.gif

Maybe next time,

I was able to snag some in the Vancouver region a while back... now I have 10, (But have to sacrifice one for parts to save the others... DOH!) I've been sitting on (pun intended) mine for two months now. Well actually not sitting on them. I've broken them down, sawed a bit of plywood, bought a grinder and some paint.. and am waiting for some good weather to get out in the yard and finish them. I was able to find a good upholster who will do them for a good cost.

Did the building have any THX or DTS signs that they were tearing down by any chance? Or perhaps some funky Exit signs?

Thanks.

Sorry no DTS/DD signs or exit signs, it wasn't a commercial theatre.

I too had to buy an extra seat for parts...
