What is more important for movie projection of DVD-W 16:9 formats ?

Lumens, contrast or tech type ? (DLP or LCD )

Wide formats 80% of time usage. Large screen ~ 40 feet by 20 feet. (BIG)

I am looking at several 5-7K lumen units, with ~ 1000:1 contrasts.

Did not want to spend more than $10-15K (unless it is needed)

What is the list of vendors/models I should be thinking of ?

What distance back (throw lens ) is recomended ?

Thanks :)

That is like saying I want a new Mercedes and I want to spend no more than 8k.

On the LCD side, the WF-10 with the standard 2-2.6:1 lens is your best/only option. At 4,000 lumens (with this lens) it can put up a respectable 25ft wide image.

On the DLP side, the closest you are going to get to your price range would be a projection design F3 single chip, but its brightness will not permit very large images.

Best option (out of your price range) is the Panasonic 7000U.
