Hey guys

Looking for some guidance. I have currently on my house 2 speakers controlled by a sonos amp, ran into my basement. I am currently putting a pool in measuring 18wx35L in a free form shape. Along the outside of the pool will be a fence and neighbors on the back and side of me. I am looking to put some rock speakers in, and run into my garage on a different amp and try to get them to connect to the house all together.

So my question, what would be affordable, great rock speakers. How many would I need 2 or 4? I am not looking to bump music on my pool area, its roughly 15ft from my house but I want to have a nice settle sound coming from the area.

Thank you

I installed a pool just like you describe on my last house, and about the same distance from the house. I considered the "rock" speakers, but the relatively high price and unknown sound stopped me. Instead, I put a pair of relatively inexpensive outdoor speakers on the back of the house under the deck behind the pool patio area. It gave me good enough sound for background music at the pool.

I will check them out, thank you. I don't have much room around the pool. It will mostly be rock and stone with landscaping. There will just be a paver patio with some stamped concrete around the pool. My concern would be more the backside of the pool since I will already have the speakers on my house.

Maybe some normal outdoor speakers mounted on the fence posts along the fence where the grill is? Would seem to be mostly hidden by landscaping and offer relatively easy wiring to the house. Would offer better height placement and also a lot more options compared to rock speakers.

As always, you should let us know your budget. Then you will get suggestions that are practical for your situation. Went to an outdoor speaker event a couple months back. They had lots of options at various price points. Look at Sonance.

There are lots of options. I put up two outdoor Paradigms. More than enough for my yard.

Thank you, i am figuring maybe around $1500 or less. I like the sonance rock speakers. Could I get away with a pair or would 4 be recommended if I went all around the sides.

You could start with two to see if that is good enough. You could always add two more later on if you think it's necessary. I thought I might need four speakers, but two worked out just fine for my situation.

you don't need to spend much to get decent outdoor sound quality. remember, ther ar a lot of competing sounds out doors.

check out parts express or outdoorspeakerdepot.com. just make sure you get speakers with at least a 5" woofer. typically 5.5" or 6.5" woofers will do well.

spend your money on another Sonos amp to drive the outdoor speakers.

Either install the amp into an outdoor enclosure or put it into the basement next to your other unit. if you want to save a few bucks, get a connect (preamp) and a lower cost amp - audiosource Amp100VS / ad1002 or the dayton audio apa102bt.

there are always connect and connect amps for sale used on ebay. Sonos gear carriers its value pretty well. expect to pay ~200 for the connect ~400 for a connect amp used.

The connect amp can drive 4 speakers. or if you went with a connect + generic amp, that amp could have A+B speaker posts.

good luck.

Since you are already into the Sonos system, spend your money on another amp to drive the outdoor speakers. if you want to save a few bucks get a connect (pre amp) and a generic outboard amp - audiosource amp1oovs/ ad1002 or the dayton audio apa102bt.

lots of used multichannel amps on ebay. maybe a sherbourn TST104 ( 1x 4) if you want more speakers.

as for the speakers make sure you get at least a 5" woofer. placing them along the back wall facing into the pool, might work well for the neighbors.
