Need help setting up a outdoor sound system.  Here is what I would like and the distances.

3 sets of speakers. Distances from source set 1 = 50'; set 2 = 70; set 3 = 100'

Speaker specs?

What size and type of speaker wire?

Type and power output for receiver or amp or both?

In other words, set me up a system to handle 3 set of speakers with good quality sound at the distances shown above.

Well with 100ft speaker wire runs I would look at 10-12gauge minimim. And outdoor specific wire. Just buy a bunch of it and use it for each speaker set

As for speakers it all depends on your budget and what you want to get out of it.

Do you want to power all these speakers at the same time with the same music?

A 7channel amp (7.1 receiver) which supports MultiChannel Stereo will work for your situation. (In your case you will be using front left and right, side-surround left and right, back surrounds as each zone)

When wiring speakers you might want to consider separate volume knobs for each set of speakers. That way you don't have to to to receiver to control volume. With the separate volume controler for each of the 3 zones will be the way you can turn off certain area's
