I'm looking to place 2-4 of the Monoprice outdoor speakers in my backyard and have the ability to run them off of my receiver which is a Yamaha HTR-5063. I was wondering if there is a switch/splitter that would allow me to run my indoor home theater setup (5.1) and at the flip of a switch allow me to use the speakers outdoors instead. I have no plans to use both simultaneously, just one or the other. Is this possible or am I going to need to purchase a separate amplifier/receiver for the outdoor setup?

All you need is a speaker switch or selector similar to this

You would need to pass your main left and right signal from the receiver to the switch and then hook up your mains as well as the outdoor speakers to the different speaker connections on the switch


Just make sure the switch has impedance protection.
