Hello;

This question may be off topic in this forum but I don't know where else to post it.

I was wondering if any one here is familiar with outdoor speakers and could recommend me between the following selections:Bose, Niles, and Cambridge Soundworks!

Thanks

I went through the same process a few months ago, and settled on some NHT Outdoor Ones. I found them on Audiogon being sold new by an authorized NHT dealer for $270, they list for $400/pr. They have a relatively good low frequency response (57Hz I believe) and provide plenty of bass without distorting. Very clean sound, as NHT is known for, on the mids and highs as well. I would highly recommend checking out this deal:

Accessories 4 Less is an authorized NHT dealer, and you can't beat this deal with a stick.

Any reason they must be one of the above brands?

I auditioned a number of outdoor speakers including Bose and thought the Niles were by far the best sounding. I have 2 Niles speakers mounted on the back of my house and I couldn't be happier.

Which Bose did you audition? I can pickup Bose 251's for dealer cost ($325.00), what you think?

Not really! Any other suggestions are more than welcomed.
I looked at all of these brands a few years ago and settled on outdoor speakers by SpeakerCraft. I have a pair of the WS720 speakers that are now 5 years old and are still working great.

From what I remember during auditions (remember, this was 5 years ago) they had a similar sound for me to the speakers by Niles. Speakercraft had the additional benefits of a lifetime warranty (most are only a couple of years), using stainless steel rustproof hardware, and including the mounting brackets.

I have Niles OS10's and love them. Listened to the Speakercraft and did not like them as much as the Niles...but they were close. Although I new better, I listened to the Bose because I could get a good deal on them as well...and true to form they were very thin/brittle sounding even in a showroom. I could only imagine what they would sound like outside. Nothing will be audiophile quality outside but I have my speakers under the soffit and they are very enjoyable.
