Hey guys, looking at a 7125 Outlaw to run my Klipsch Ref II speakers (98db sensitivity). Im pretty sure that's more than enough for them, considering from my reading the outlaws appear to be a little underrated.

Im going to use my Oppo 103 as a pre pro until I can get something next year. Just wondering if there are any issues running the 7125 on a normal home 15amp circuit? Only other stuff on the circuit would be my plasma tv 65" and VTF15H.

I have a pretty small basement room 10'x20' and maybe I just have no use for the extra wattage.

Maybe the Denon 5700 is that good??

It looks like for your room size, your Denon 5700 has more than adequate power for your needs. There really should be no reason that the Outlaw amp should "sound" better. If your were almost running out of power on your Denon then maybe yes, but the 5700 was a flagship AVR in it's time and it's rated power specs are probably pretty close to being true, so the difference between the power of 140w and 200w would be minimal at best, 60 more watts will not get you a very noticeable increase in total volume output.


Now if you ever move to a lager room, or get less efficient speakers, then a more powerful amp may help. But going only 60 watts more may not be enough to may a huge difference even then.

Based on what my Monster Power 5100 amp meter tells me, I would say probably not.  I currently have 5 channels of the Outlaw 200wx7 amp running Paradigm Studio 60's front and 20's rear, a Denon 5700 as pre-amp, Oppo 93, projector and a Velodyne HTS-15.  Cranking the volume to ~100db listening levels, I typically saw less than 5A total draw.  However, years ago, without the Outlaw amp, I remember cranking up War of the Worlds, the scene where the alien ship first appears, and seeing close to 11A!  I have never seen anything close to that, though.  

 

I did run a separate circuit to my home theater, though, with 10ga wire and a 20 amp dedicated circuit.  I didn't want anything else to interfere, etc...

Thanks. When we build I plan to run dedicated circuits for sure. I also know what you mean, when I have checked some of my stuff with a kill a watt, things do not pull near as much current as you expect. I know my VTF15H does not, and neither does the display.


I'll only be using 3 of the 125w channels right now, so there should be no issue.


On a xtra happy note, I grabbed a 3 month old 7125 earlier for $735 shipped, and am going to use my Marantz SR6007 as my pre pro for now since it has Audyssey XT. Gonna be fun next weekend!

How much space will I need above the 7125 for air flow? I cant find any notes in the manual, but I see the amp runs cool. I cant fit my avr and amp in the same cubby hole so the AVR will be on top of the HT stand and the 7125 will go inside the hole. Since its so small, Im going to put a shelf back in above it to put some stuff, but I can drill new holes to give the amp whatever it needs.

My 770 is well used, but I also got a great deal on it.  Now I need to work on getting a better pre-amp.  Unfortunately, I'm finding that latest pre's with the Audyssey going for a decent amount of $$...

The manual should say to put 2-3" above the amp.

You are right, it was in the very first section and I missed it. At least 2-3". That will be perfect because I can give it a few more than that, and still have room for the stuff I want to put on that shelf.

Yes!  Try moving the 90-pounder around.  Once I had it in my cabinet I was unable to stand over it - it was strange not to be able to lift the front up with one hand to adjust it slightly.  Luckily it slid around pretty easily for the last couple inches.

I have a bunch of 7*** amps for my surround sound system. I'm tri-amping Dynaudio drivers in custom cabinets so have 3 pair running to each speaker. I was wondering if these amps have a common ground rail for all channels so I could run 2 pair to each speaker instead of 3. That would be Hi, Mid, Lo, Gnd. Unfortunately when I measure resistance between grounds I get 0 at first but it climbs to 20 ohms in a few seconds. Doesn't sound like a common ground to me... right? Anybody ever try this sort of thing?

I have an Outlaw 7700 that was connected to the unbalanced pre-outs from my Yamaha RXV-2700. I stopped using it for my main system because it had a slight hum. I now use it when I have parties and want another zone of speakers. If I go back to it I might do that when I get a balanced preamp. Any suggestions on balanced surround processor/preamps? I'd like to keep it under $1500.

Check out the Marantz AV 7701... its a few buck more than 1500, but its a great preamp

Just ordered the Outlaw 7500 (5x200) to replace multiple amplifiers.

Keeping my fingers crossed it will last a while and hoping it is as "dead quiet" as others have reported on various reviews. Originally started out ready to buy the ATI 2005 but learned the Outlaw Audio 7500 is close to the same as made by ATI for Outlaw Audio.

Would be interested in feedback from any 7500 owners and what you think so far about the amp? thanks in advance.

Just received an Outlaw Audio 7500 5x200watt amplifier.
Wow, first impressions upon arrival are:

-very well boxed, shipping weight in box was 94lbs. Heavy.
-high in quality construction, components
-faceplate is true Black color not Gray like chassis
-sound is open, full, and detailed
-runs cooler at idle than my older 90s amps
-looks great

I'm using it for my home theater system right now but I can see why it could be used in dedicated audio systems too. Very nice.

I have an XPA-3 for the living room system, but I am fixing to get the 7500 for my dedicated HT plans (we will be building). I will probably use it in the living room until it that happens. For the price and the power, plus build quality (ATI) and sound quality, I just think the 7500 and 7700 are hard to beat.
