I was looking for an inexpensive SSP when I noticed some Outlaw 970s on eBay:

My question is does Outlaw sell on eBay ? How do I know that Outlaw will honor the warranty ? Do they have dealers ? I just thought it strange that one eBayer would have sold 9 of the same preamps and other Outlaw stuff. What's the risk and has anyone dealt with them for warranty repairs ?

I didn't receive a reply from the seller or Outlaw so I'll just wait for Emotiva's UMC when it comes out. I noticed that you (LCSeminole) have Emotiva gear, how do you like it ?

I don't know if I can wait for the Emotiva, is the 970 a good processor? I am kind of gunshy after reading this thread:

Is this typical of Outlaw and is a used 970 worth the risk? Is a receiver with preouts a better idea at this time?

The 970 is two generations old. The 990 is the current (and better) one and they're working on a new one with HDMI support which may or may not be comparable to the new one Emotiva is working on.

Thanks, I didn't realize it was so dated. I think the Emotiva will suit me well, I'm going to drive my preamp's HT bypass with it's L/R front channels and make use of a couple of B&K amps that I have.
