Everytime I play my Rava at loud volumes for more than 15 minutes it gets super can't-touch-it hot and shuts off. This seems weird to me because the sub is not distorting and sounding fine. I have had this problem ever since I bought it used about a year ago. I lived with the problem by putting a fan behind it and it never even gets warm. What could be causing this and is there any way to fix it? It doesn't matter if the sub volume is down and the sub out is up, or vice versa, it all seems to come down to how loud it is overall.
The reason I am asking after having lived with the problem is that the fan is pretty loud and it is audible during listening. I have taken an interest in getting the best sound possible and the fan is seriously NOT HELPING!
Call Adire. You may not get an answer till Tuesday though w/ the holiday. Dan monitors some of the A/V boards so maybe he'll see this and contact you.
Even under high level usage (90 db+), the heat sinks have never felt hot to the touch, and the thing has never shut down on me either. You might want to give Adire a call and see if this problem is common to the AVA250 plate amp that they use with the Rava. I know that they made some minor changes to it a while ago by adding a crossover bypass, not sure if anything else got changed.
