Owners of Sony Wega KV27-FS17

Hi, I have a question for people who own a Sony Wega KV27-FS17. When I turn on the TV, it makes this loud noise. I just bought the TV, it is only about a month old but it has always made this sound. The best way I can describe this sound is that it sounds like a fart. Is this a normal thing or not?? I went to the local Good Guys and tried turning off and on their Sony Wegas but unfortunately, they do not have this particular model. The KV27-FS13 and KV27-FV16 did not have this sound. I need to know if the TV is broken or not. If it is, I need to return since it is still under warrantly right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks...

Sam

that's very odd b/c my KV27FS17 lets out a loud belch everytime I turn it on... I really have to get that fixed :)

heh, in any case, you should probably get that checked out as it does not sound normal
No fair blaming farts on your Wega! No, all kidding aside, I have a different model (KV-32XBR400) but it does always make a loud noice when turning it on. I'd describe it as an "electrical boing" for lack of a better word. I have been told that the TV automatically "degauses" itself (not to be confused with "de-gassing" itself"). I'm not sure on the definition or spelling of degausing, but it is a good thing for a TV. Many TV's need to be unplugged for a minute to degausse themselves, but these do it automatically. TV's should be degaussed before attemting to callibrate them. ON THE OTHER HAND, since I have not heard your noise, I cant guarantee that it is the degausing that you are hearing.
Ive noticed that if your surge protector/ups/power conditioner is not up to the demand of the initial current draw of the tv the degauss does change its noise. Try connecting the tv directly to the wall and see if there is a difference.
I own the Wega KV27-FS17 and "electronic boing or gong" is a good description. I also own the KV-36XBR400 and it produces the same noise but to a much lesser extent/volume. Basically the 27" TV's startup gong is much louder than the 36" TV's startup gong....go figure.

At any rate it it truly sounds like flatulance then I would take it back....I mean how embarassing, you bring a date over and the TV farts....bad enough the dog does it:)
