Does anyone know where ( or event if they make) a dvd/vcr combo unit that will do PAL format? A friend of mine just moved from europe and has a collection of tapes and dvd's from there and doesn't want to just get rid of them. If not a combo, where is the best place to look for individual components ( ie: a DVD AND a VCR that does PAL)

J & R.com have a Samsung 4 head VHS Hi-Fi which will play back NTSC, PAL or Secam on any monitor for only $599 or a cheaper Samsung stereo only for $399. Both are world players, your friend can watch his vids and NTSC vids he might want to watch here in the states. DVD player Regions 1-6 can be had for about $265 at 220.com

Hmm...


I found two models:


1. Samsung SV-DVD1E multiregion, NTSC+PAL (DVD+HiFi VCR).

2. LG DC-595NW multiregion, NTSC+PAL (DVD+ HiFi VCR).


The first unit costs about $660 down here.

The second unit costs around $530.
