Ever since I bought the NEC MP3 I am searching for a separate PAL TV tuner, preferable with teletext, PiP (2 tuners), and so on. Currently I have been able to form the following list:

1) Philips FTR 9964. Separately sold in the US, but not in Europe.

2) Panasonic TU-PT600

3) LG RZ-BA10

Ofcourse all tuners are advertised to work with the screens of the same brand. I know that in the firmware menu of the Philips there is an option to put it in 'stand-alone mode'. Most screens use a special (VGA) cable in which they also carry IR signal and serial communication.

My questions:

1) Does anybody have experience using above tuners with other brands of plasma screens?

2) Can anybody tell more about the features of the tuner.

3) Are there other tuners that can be used with a NEC MP3?

Thanks in advance!

Quite a bit of time later I'm now looking for the answer to the same question. Particularly the Phillips line of FTR models. Does anyone know if/how they can be used with other displays? Particularly I'd like to use one with my CRT.

Thanks,

Michael
