PAN AE700 Ceiling Mount Ideas?

631 Views 7 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  REL77
I am looking for some info for a Ceiling mount for my AE700. I am moving to a Townhouse where my current set up will not work. I would love to see what other people are using both DIY and retail packages. Please give me some info...

I use Chief mount RRA-225 with my PT-L300U and I saw on visualapex.com that it will fit the 700 as well.
be very very careful and make sure you figure it out. i bought a precision mount and luckily it came with an extension arm, because otherwide, i'd have to use keystone correct in order to square up the image. i only have 8.5'ish ceilings, but my throw is about 16'

i also have an x1 downstairs, and it actually has so much offset i have to slightly point it upwards in order to hit my screen square (without an extension)

the panny has little to no offset (probably because of the lens shift) so be careful what you get and make sure to figure it out

i bought the precision because it's interchangeable with the early infocus x1/4800/4805 mount i have downstairs (before they went to modified universal). luckily, the model i bought for the panny had that arm which gives you somewhere between 9 and 13"+ from the mount to play with.

i think you can get the same thing with the chiefs but they're fairly spendy

the precisions are the most attractive, but they do the job

good luck!!! it's nice having it out of the way for sure

You can buy the necessary length extension (usually 1.5" diameter with threaded ends) to meet your requirements. The pricing is high from the mount vendors for their parts... I've used PVC schedule 80 nipples (threads at both ends) to extend the correct distance from the mounting plate in the joists to the projector's mounting plate. You can get these at a good plumbing supply shop for next to nothing (the 8" extension I use currently was probably $2 and change).
I'm also going to use the Chief mount. I received the individual pieces today and will mount it sometime this week. I also got a 24" extension rod as my ceiling is 10' high.

One question, the projector will be upside down, is there a setting to invert the image? or will just selecting "ceiling mount" in the options do it.

Thanks,

Time2Ride
The "ceiling mount" in the options inverts the image, see your manual.
Fan noise is much less in the "desk" setting. This was the only reason I didn't invert my 700. I built a hanging shelf for it to sit on. It was important to me that the fan be as quite as possible.
any one have any good DIY mount ideas/instructions/pics???
