But, not to nit-pick, but has he ever explained to you why he's shipping them out of order? At least according to the list at nanosubmarine, there are a number of people who ordered well before these people. (Unfortunately, I'm not one of them!) Even if that list is wrong, it still seems like he should be replacing the returned ones to the real early recipients who had to return theirs, before sending new ones....
Oh well, if he really starts blasting them out, it doesn't matter much. But, that certainly remains to be seen!
I would assume because he has refunded quite a few to date he is doing the best he can.
Keep in mind it was clearly posted to the forum during the pre pay this was a one time pre buy with no refund.
It turned into a thread all itself. If you wanted a refund you were better off selling it on ebay or to someone else who wanted the lens.
There were one or 2 people the other day on our classified section who posted they were willing to buy someone's sot in the prepay. For all the people complaining about refunds no one responded to him.
Because of the dated circumstances Shawn may consider different.
Also this is me speaking not Shawn. I cant answer for him. I just want to help keep the peace till this chapter is closed and everyone is happy!!
Just to clarify, I was not in the "pre-buy" that was pursuant to a post to this forum that said there would be no refund. I clearly would not have purchased under those circumstances. I purchased in February off of the Cygnus web site, although it may have been part of a another "pre-buy." In any event, Shawn told me at that time that I could get a refund within thirty days if the unit did not work with my Dwin Transvision, which was the projector I was considering then. Given that another 8 months have gone by since then, and more months are likely to go buy without delivery, I don't think there is any basis for Shawn to reject my request for a refund. Furthermore, one of my reasons for requesting a refund at this point is my general concern about the whole situtation, which frankly is not aided by the suggestion that I might not be entitled to a refund for a product that paid for 8 months ago but have never received.
Alan, just so you know, I am not arguing with you, as I understand that this is not your responsibility. I just want others to be aware of the facts in case they are in similar circumstances.
Im interested in all types of technology but was deeply disturbed by the pulling of the post about the other lens.
A forum should be about free speech so anyone can find new products hidden around the world/web, then if anyone is interested in that product they can email the company themselves and not second hand by a 3rd party.
You say that you will email this company to make sure it is a legitimate business, thats a rather large responsibility if you give the all clear only to find its another bad company to do business with. People learn from their mistakes first hand, however filtering out posts imho is a bad idea. Let us decide if a product/company is bad.
Its your forum after all so no doubt this post will get deleted.
Alan, When I got my Panamorph 3 weeks ago it had an oil leak so per Cygnus instructions I sent it back to them. I have been e-mailing them since to make sure they got it with no response. If you talk to Shawn again please ask him to e-mail me to verify that he got the defective unit back and that I will be getting a replacement before he starts shipping the second pre-buy!
While I have no responsibility to the Cygnus/Panamorph project I was accused by many on the HDTV recording forum
by those going after 169 leagaly for not shipping product saying I was liable because I let 169 participate on my forum and I let it happen. My own forum members accused me in part for being to blame.
Some have been upset with AVS about the Cygnus issue. When people get upset they want someone to blame. It makes them feel better.
We provide a free service and enjoy this hobby but providing such a forum has its vulnerability that you will never understand until your in my shoes.
I have to continuously watch my back.
Every year I learn more and more of not what to do.
Your free speech claim does not go far with me. Who said my forum was about free speech!
You can go over to the Taw forum where nothing negative makes it in print. Everything is censored. I think this is by far the best forum because we let as much uncensored stuff to remain that other forums would not. Sorry if I feel some of the post have to go to protect my financial
well being. I know you don't care about that until it hits your own wallet.
I pay 6k a month for the bandwidth used to keep this forum running so you and others can use it for free.
Would you like to donate some money..I doubt Ill hear from you on this one.

Yow! What do you use, a T3? I would have thought you could get by with a T1, for $800/month, or maybe two T1's. You must need a lot of bandwidth - I had no idea. Now I'm even more appreciative of what you do. Thanks!
I'm no expert, but have you ever looked into hosting from a specialist company like Akamai? Their claim is that they can lower pipe costs by quite a bit. Their speciality seems to be bandwidth intensive stuff like streaming video, but with your traffic, maybe they are cheaper.
We are aware there are more cost effective hosting solutions. There are a lot of other factors too and the cost associated with running this site is not limited to bandwidth alone. I think David has recently looked into options and continues to look into reducing the growing bandwidth requirements. Thanks for the tip on Akamai though!
The original poster stated the product was a month or so away and they were taking pre orders.
That red flagged me. All I needed was people going crazy canceling there cygnus orders and ordering this lens and the same thing happening with this company that I do not even know nothing about. Now I have everyone going after Shawn for money and this company if they did not ship on time.
Please remember all the additional posts created from unhappy cygnus customers cost me lots of money.
I don't need to double this.

We have been kicked off of servers 2 times in the last year
because of the excessive bandwidth use.
The company we are with now also hosts the likes of Sally Jessie Rafael. They are right next store to us. We are on a shared T3 and a T2. They also have multiple T1s.
Not only do we use a lot of bandwidth each month but we have pay to keep our servers there as well.
We own our own servers, 2 super servers 6k each and a couple of smaller ones and some other stuff..David help??
