Panasonic 1000:1 SXGA LCD?

235 Views 7 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  JFLNYC
Anyone have any info on this projector mentioned here:
http://www.dvdreview.com/html/news.html (scroll to 'Panasonic delivers a new level in LCD quality')

I thought perhaps this was a theater projector (what with 12,000 Lumens!) but the blurb mentions that both are coming to the Consumer market.

This is a 12,000 ANSI lumen 3-chip DLP unit. I am sure it has an awesome image. It also has a price I am sure at 70K or more...

Regards,

john
Doh! didnt even read that it was 3-chip DLP. I guess thats what I get for trusting a DVD review site with a topic header accouncing "LCD projectors" http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif

Can $70K *really* still be considered the consumer market?

Hahahaha, bounce on over to the CRT forum and ask that same question!

Price >= $70k

I heard around $125k, although it's pretty plug-and-play with a good multi-format scaler built-in. Nice machine though.

Those who have CRT projectors, want quality. They want the best, and are willing to pursue it. To the ends of the earth if need be. They are not afraid of a little work. Life is not clean, simple or easy. If you think it is, then you are deluding yourself. Seek not comfort, but truth. Truth is, the image coming from a CRT projector is better than that of anything else available right now, so, like many others, I choose CRT.. no matter the hassle, work, or cost. It's never going to come to me of it's on volition, nothing good ever does... you have to work for it.

Quality of life, quality of image, and a reasonable price. Pick any two.
