I have an old Panasonic Ct34wx50 that up until the other day worked fine. It then shut down, and all it does is about once evert 2 seconds there is a relay click followed by a thump out the speakers. No error code. Sounds like it is trying to start and going into shut down, or possibly an over current shut down. I don't have the set here at my shop, as it is at my father inlaws place, and they just replaced it with a cheap LCD, and this was heading to the dump, but I have the opportunity to get it back if I want it. It weighs a ton, but if the repair is simple I might just tackle it for old time sake, and then put the unit into my collection of antique electronics. It's the end of the era for old CRT, and I thought it might be a nice one to collect as it had an outstanding picture.

Anyone have any ideas what might be the cause?

I have one, great pic and sound. Might search through similar model Panny threads as there's not many, I couldn't find anything when I was looking for service menu help.
Could check the power supply and other significant electrolytic caps.
