For all the Panasonic Plasma Deep Color capable owners out there:

Do any of you have camcorders that also support deep color?

How does Deep Color look on Panasonics plasmas?

Is it worth buying if you record alot on your camcorder--is it much better?

Will Pioneer ever include it on their plasmas?

Doew it matter which brand of camcorder you use with the Pioneers? Sony recommends Sony and panasonic recommends Panasonic--they aren't sure if other brands will work as well--evidently everything isn't standardized.

The reason i ask about Deep color is that most people who buy Panasonic or Pioneer plasmas do so because of the picutre quality and many enjoy Blu-ray with them.

Just wondered if any owners also had availed themselves of Deep Color honme video--as far as i know that's the only way you can view Deep Color.

Will we see Blu-ray movies that utilize Deep Color by 2020?

I sincerely wish that blu-ray would support deep color as just about all the new TVs support it. I wonder if It's just a a matter of disk space as I know 12-bit color would tear through 50 GB in no time flat. If blu-ray started to take advantage of its multiple layers then we may see it, but since it's it's not officially part of the blu-ray spec we might not see 12-bit color until what ever is after blu-ray comes out. I am hoping though...

On a second note, has anyone tested out their Nikon D90's movie mode? Can you utilize the sensors 12-bit color capabilities to make HD movies?

thanks

Don’t get “Deep Color” confused with xyYCC, camcorders can only support xyYCC (expanded color gamut) but not Deep Color which requires a minimum of 10bits per color. No way a camcorder can use 10bit color as the data rate is just way to high, they use 8bit with 4:2:2 color encoding which only stores color data for half the pixels (to reduce data rate), just like all other domestic video.

10bit color and or 4:4:4 color encoding is much more important then xyYCC, but its not likely to happen in the foreseeable future.
