If you're remote isn't working you won't be able to get into the setup menus.

You'll want to (on the remote) hold down the 1 key and at then at the same time the enter key. Do this for a couple seconds any you should be OK.

hi no its still not letting me in to the dvd it keeps saying remote 02, i still cant get into the menu dont know what to do how can i change the code on my remote thanks

Then try holding down the remote's 2 button and the ENTER button at the same time for several seconds.

A Panasonic has three possible operating codes, the first code is 1, the second code is 2, and the third code is 3.

Any chance the REC button on the front panel has a booger dirt on it... the sensor is in that button?

I'm not sure what r529 is, but if it's saying remote 2 then that's telling you the recorder is set for remote code 2 and the actual remote is something other than that, eg. remote 1 or 3.

Again try and holding down the enter key and the number 2 on your remotes keypad for 5 seconds. It sounds like your batteries in the remote are OK since the DVDR is reading it, but it might not hurt to try another set.

Lastly you could try resetting the Panny to factory defaults although I seem to remember this does most everything but the remote code but it may be worth a try.

To do this power on the DVDR. Then hold both the channel up and channel down buttons on the DVDR for 10 seconds. The clock should go back to 12:00 and then try your remote. Again this "may" not reset your code, but it's a last ditch effort.

Funny I just ran into this problem this weekend. The number two button and enter is correct for a few seconds and then press the enter button by itself. That is the key ommission. This should be described in the owners manual. Then the remote is programmed for number two which your unit is looking for.
