I am running a Panasonic DVD-RP82 player into the HD input of my 86cm Sony. I am getting an excellent progressive picture when I play NTSC DVDs but no picture when I play PAL DVDs. When I disable the progressive output a picture appears but it is fuzzy and vibrates. I've been told that it is possible to modify the DVD player (without opening it up) so that it can play PAL DVDs with progressive enabled. If anyone knows how to do this, would be very grateful.

Sorry, it's not possible. US Region 1 RP82's aren't designed to play PAL discs (not enough frame buffer?). To modify your player for PAL playback, you would definitely have to open it up.

No progressive PAL out of any Panny DVD player in the world. Hardware does not support it and can't be hacked.
