Panasonic E30

Hi I was going to make a PC DVD theater, however I was in Circuit City on Thursday and the had a open Box Panasonic E30 set top DVD recorder for $250, so I bought it since the reg price is $500. So out with the PC system and in with the standalone set top burner. I have recorded with the DVD-ram disc and it rocks. However I was looking at people saying you must buy DVD-r discs that are good and work in the recorder and on other dvd players. So I wish to know what are the cheapest DVD-r discs that work great for this unit?

Thanks

Yes, someone with an E30 or E50 please chime in ... I'm also curious...

I've read older threads here that mention Vivastar media, but it seems to be discontinued from most domestic vendors. I've also read Maxell is compatible, but that was in a review, and I'd rather trust an AVS member. Please let us know !
I have read many threads of mixed results on the cheaper (

I tried a 50 pack of the Vivastars a while ago on my E30. I only had about 5 that wouldn't play right in other players. Although, all played correctly in the recorder and my RP82. As far as I know, the Vivastars are no longer available.

I prefer to spend a little more on quality disks. The Samsung BeAlls have a good reputation on a couple of forums. I bought a 50 pack of them and so far have had great results. They are only about $1.50 in bulk from meritline.com. Also, I've found TDKs to work real well. Although, I think they may be getting manufactured differently now because the packaging and disk design has changed. I haven't tried the newer disks. CompUSA has the TDKs on sale every couple of months for about $2.25 each.
