I gave a friend a dvd-r that was recorded on a Panasonic E80 and his Powermac G4 (dual processor) can't play it on its dvd-rom/-r drive under OS X. Anyone own a Mac and know what has to be done to fix this problem?
Make sure that your friend's system is updated to OSX 10.2.6 or greater (free at Apple's site if OSX 10.2 is installed). The upgrade in 10.2.6 fixed a bug in 10.2.2 through 10.2.5 If your friend doesn't have 10.2 installed, there may be an update for whatever version he is using, but I think the older versions of OSX actually had fewer problems with pre-recorded DVD-Rs.
My Mac plays my E80H discs just fine in 10.2.6.
If your friend can't get the upgrade (or wait for the download), I think OS 9.2's DVD player works with DVD-Rs.
