Looks like $797 to me. $397 would be a STEAL!

For $2 more, I would get (oh yeah, I did Friday night), the Sony KV32HS420! Jandr has it and CC should price match (my local one did) or BB (my local would not).

Why would it be on clearance? It's a current model. Or is it an open-box return or a floor model or something? I can't see them selling a new TV for half-price even if it were discontinued, much less a new current model. But if it is indeed brand new and sealed in the box, by all means it's a fantastic deal on a good set. If it's a floor model or a return, then only you can decide if it's worth the risk vs low price.

I would def. not risk a floor model on TVm but that's your call. If it is a choice between having a ruglar TV for $400 or an HD TV for $400 (and not be able to spend any more), then i would go for the HDTV.

I can get a waranty for $60 and two years.
Well floor model explains the low low price. If you can visually inspect it see if it has a build-date sticker on the back (My Panny does). If the condition of the cabinet and glass screen and remote are acceptable to you then it's a good deal. As since it's Walmart, they should have a liberal return policy if you don't like it or if it has any problems once you have it set up in your home. SD and HD PQ on mine is excellent.

As for that warranty, you need to see if your two years starts AFTER the factory warranty ends, or if it starts the day you buy the TV. Panasonic's warranty is 90 day on labor, one year on parts except for the CRT which is covered for two years.

Well I ended up getting a Sony KV-36HS420.

Was at Sears as a closeout for $899. I ended up deciding no on the Panasonic and on the way home I decided to stop at Sears. I live in a fairly small town area and Sears seems to have some very good deals if you can catch them, so I stop in every so often.

BTW tha Panasonic was a 30" and they had the wrong product sticker up. And it was only a floor model because that was the last one left it seems. They were selling new ones for the same price according to the sales person.
