even doing a search (and going to panasonic's website)couldn't answer my question, so i'll post it here.


will the upcoming Panasonic RP-82 have the scaling feature that the rp-91 has? it's MUCH cheaper and some press releases mention a variable zoom and 4:3 shrink function. if this is true the RP-82 seems to have a big advantage, since it has the better de-interlacing chip.

I don't know about the scaling, but the one and only demo I've seen of the RP-56 (Sage chip) was not too impressive. The picture had an annoying green tint to it and I preferred the 91's output hands down.

Since they are not using the Genesis chip and instead using the Sage chip you will not get the scaling that you do with the RP91. Kind of a step bawards to be sure since the scaling feature is a outstanding feature to have.
