I just upgraded to this DVD player from a standard non-progressive player.

I am quite happy with it.

In general, for the money, it is a great player. I selected this player because it was not a lot of money. This will leave my options open to by another player should the DVD technology change soon, such as HD DVD. Although, I don't see that happening anytime soon.

It seems to work well with my new 16:9 Sony 51HW40 TV.

However, I don't understand the issue about scaling and aspect ratio adjustments with which I have read in the forum.

Should I select Full, Wide zoom on the TV or is it basically preference.

Any advice would be helpful.

PS: When progressive is on, it typically goes to Wide Zoom on the TV. Is this OK?

if the movie is anamorphic you should be viewing it in full mode, im not ure of what your wide mode does, but that might be the setting in the movie is non anamorphic, but dont take my word for it, but i know for sure that you should watch all anamorphic movies in full mode
