I have DD 5.1 for PS3 games and for Standard Def DVDs played on my PS3; however, when I put in a bluray movie and set up the audio... nothing - well, the receiver takes the signal (via optical cable) and goes into Dolby Pro Logic because all it is getting is 2 channels...

Looks like I need to buy a new receiver.

singitloud, I just upgraded from a Panasonic SA-HE200. I did not know that Panasonic had or has a SA-HE300, anyway your PS3 will not Bitstream it only Decodes new codecs. I'm not a gamer so someone might want to chime in on this.. as far as DD and DTS go's I can't tell you if the PS3 will Bitstream sorry...

When I had my SA-HE200 up and running it will only take 2channel over Optical. In PCM (mode) uncompressed audio.

What is the difference?

The only thing that I know is that the Panasonic is capable of running 6 or 8 ohm speakers. I thought that a 6 ohm load speaker should be abe to take more power than an 8 ohm speaker. Just like a 2 ohm woofer will be able to handle more power than a 4 ohm woofer.

oops - you are right - it is a SA-HE200

So, the PS3 does the actual decoding?

I am thinking of getting an Onkyo I like that has HDMI inputs etc.

Is it okay for me to ask someone for a Crutchfield "friend Code" since I am about to buy from Crutchfield and could use the discount?

If so, please Private Message me with the code.
