Four months ago (yes 4) my XR45 went out. Called Panasonic who advised me to take it to a local authorized repair shop since it was still under warranty. That was the middle of June. Repair shop said it would take a couple of weeks and that was ok with me as I was heading out on vacation. Returned from vaction, contacted the shop and they where waiting on parts. Everytime I called them they need a new part. In Aug they said they had two parts on order that should fix it and if not it would need a new power supply which is back ordered and won't be available till mid Sep. Come mid Sep I called and the told me it was the power supply and it's on back order. My patience was done. Called Panasonic and got a two week hand off as to who works this problem. Finally got to a customer service rep (previously been working with the tech folks) and they said the record showed nothing about my problem. Was told from Panasonic they would get back to me. The girl on the phone said they would contact the field rep and have him look into it. I asked when they would know something and she told me they only do buisness with the field reps by email and it would be some time before he got back. At this point I told her I didn't need to talk to her anymore and to get me her boss. One point I kept telling them was this was going on 4 months for a repair. How patient was I to be with Panasonic? Jame (the boss) assured me that he would look into it and get back with me. Yesterday I got a call from him sayiing that the power supply was no longer available and they would have to replace the unit.
Since the unit is no longer made should I (if they offer) get the 50 or insist on the new 70 coming out?
According to the Panasonic site the 70 will be out in Nov. I've looked at the specs between the 50 and 70 and don't see any differances than the HDMI in/outs on the 70.
I have to say working with Panasonic when there is a problem is a pain and I hope nobody has to deal with these folks.
