Panasonic ST50 with important button on remote not working anymore

1638 Views 14 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  Mike Lang
So I'm planning to maybe upgrade to OLED soon. I don't know if I can sell my ST50 for anything or if I should just dump it.

One of the buttons (AV input) for switching between HDMI ports seems to not work at all anymore. I just connect the cables from decoder/PC into HDMI1 in order to use the TV for my needs.

Other than this the TV still works great. But I don't know if anyone would want to take it, being unable to switch AV inputs.

Is there any other way to switch between input? Or to use a phone app as a remote or something?

Not shure how you switch between inputs. In case it is by using remote control try new batteries. Also when batteries are inside forever they tend to leak at some point so check that out once a while because replacing a remote control of any device can be rather expensive...when trying to sell because of such issues TV is worth less.

These days lots of folks use AV receiver so only one HDMI input is needed, even so not looking forward to a TV with only one HDMI input being accessible.

The batteries are OK. All the other buttons seem to work, though the on/off button is sometimes slow to react. It's just the input button that has totally stopped working.
Get a used one on ebay or buy a new remote that is compatible/learning capable and call it a day.
Is there an input button on the set? Or search Amazon for the remote part number. I bought a clone replacement for my old Panasonic LCD (p/n n2qayb000100) for about $10 and it works fine. Or maybe a universal remote will do.

If it's anything like my VT plasma, there should be buttons on the left side that would allow a user to change input, though they have to go through menu options to do so. But as others have said, if the set still works great, a buyer can probably get a replacement remote or other solution fairly cheaply and get around it.
Those remotes are available for like 11 bucks.

Thank you! It does have buttons on the side!

So, guys, how much can I expect to sell it for? :)

42" ST50, 8 years old, used for around 8000 hours total. Still looks great.

Only as much as someone is willing to pay. You should look online and see if any are for sale/have sold in your area recently, but i am not thinking a lot. $100 maybe.

I was happy to unload my 50" for $100 years ago. Take the first $50-$75 you get offered.

If you have a smart phone and your TV is connected wifi, you can use the Panasonic TV Remote app. It works great. Also $50-$100 would be a fair price I'd pay.

If you don't mind a generic replacement remote, there are several on eBay starting at 8 bucks (sometimes they're missing some of the original's buttons so compare pics to your original one).

But these two appear to be genuine OEM as theyh have the Panasonic model number on the back:

N2QAYB000703 eBay item number:203489262436

The remote control is for a possible new owner. A person buying such TV for a few bucks might be a low tech guy who is not into apps. Also such person might not be happy about a universal remote control instead of the original.
If you want to sell it: Put everything on sale as it is.. I would start at around 100 Euros Euros.. You can go lower anyways..

If you want to keep it: Contact your local Panasonic Service.. I got a brand new original ST60 Remote for around 40 Euros..
There are still some die hard plasma fans out there but they're thinning as the sets die off. You just have to hope they don't care how much electricity they consume. :)
