How does the Panasonic TC-P65V10 compare in terms of the 2012 and 2013 models?

Any thoughts on price for a used one?

Or just better off saving for a new one?

I didn't need a 65inch, so I would buy a smaller new one......

Mainly used for TV shows and movies.

No games.

Not a fully darkened room.

I don't care about 3D, just black levels, pic quality etc.....

I did google around and read various reviews from cnet and amazon.

such as:

Buy one of the new 2013 models they are shapping to be great sets...ST/VT/ZT the choice is yours. If price is a concern S64/S60.....

at what price could you not say no to a used 2009 TC-P65V10 and hold off on a new one until next year etc ?

$100?

Just exagerating to prove a point.......

It all depends on what you are looking for....are you looking for a slick deal, or a great TV.....Im not saying the V10 isnt great but it is years behind the 2013 sets....you can play the "deal" game and continue waiting forever fo thte "next best thing"....

Ill put it like this, if you buy an older set for 100$ but then find out its going to cost you 900-1500 to fix was it worth the deal? thats if its fixable and parts are avaialble readily......If yo are willing to take the risk then all the more power to you, jsut giving advice based on what I would do....there are too many unknowns with a set that is from 2009\2010 for me to feel comfortable taking it over a new set......

Having upgraded from a G10 to a VT60, I can say it was definitely worth it. The PQ is light years ahead. Of course, my size G10 was also affected by the rising black levels. I couldn't take it anymore.

I currently own a P58V10. I'm keeping it, but am thinking of picking up a 65VT60 to replace an older Epson 1080UB (I'm moving and won't be setting up a front projector in the new place).

I have a light-controlled room in the basement.

Is the VT60 a significant improvement in black levels, contrast and reference color accuracy?

If so, I'll go for it (seeing as it also gets me 3D too, which I care less about but will take it). If it's only a marginal improvement over my V10 I may just put my V10 downstairs and do without in the other room for now.
