Does anyone know whether PAL Prog Scan is possible with the PW3? At the moment, playing a R2 DVD in prog scan gives a very small image size.

We've seen this before.

Someone from Australia reported the exact same phenomenon. The panny might not be able to figure out the signal.

You might need a transcoder (component -> RGBHV) in order to get the unit to think it's a PC signal.

Good luck!

The position is clear, the TH-42PW3 and TH-42PWD3 do not accept PAL progressive input :-( The manual says as much by not listing 576p as a valid input format.

Hey thanks Brucer - nice to be back! Its not that I lost interest in home theatre stuff; just that having finally got it all set up how I wanted, I thought it was best to start sitting down to actually *watch* some movies, rather than just posting about it all the time!

To answer your question, rgob, yes the TH-42PWD4 *does* accept PAL progressive. I think it was a stupid oversight by Panasonic to miss it off the "3", and I guess they realised as much and fixed it with the "4".

Cheers,

Chip.
