Panasonic was showing a few interesting displays at NAB 2014. Perhaps the most interesting was a 98" UHD LED-LCD flat panel with full-array local dimming and 500 nits of peak-white output. The TH-98LQ70U will be available in September, but no pricing was announced. It will also be available in an 84" version.

The TH-98LQ70U FALD LED-LCD flat panel was mighty impressive.

Another interesting product in the Panasonic booth was the PT-RZ670U single-chip DLP projector, which uses laser illumination to achieve a peak light output of 6000 lumens. Its resolution is 1920x1200, not UHD. Expected shipping is in October, with no pricing announced.

The PT-RZ670U single-chip DLP projector uses lasers for its light source, leading to an expected lifespan of 20,000 hours.

Finally, Panasonic showed an ultra-short-throw projector in a rear-projection configuration. The PT-DZ870U can be used with the ET-DLE030 lens, which has a throw ratio of 0.38:1. This one is not laser-illuminated, but it has the same pixel resolution of 1920x1200. No pricing or availability was announced.

In this demo, two PT-DZ870U projectors were stacked to project an image onto a rear-projection screen from a distance of only a couple of feet. The faux-rock wall was a nice touch.
