We finally got the OK to put it on the wall. Looking at "peerless" mount into steel studs. Anyone with any observations and experience would be appreciated..Thanks

I just used the Peerless flat wall mount for the Panny 42" ED we installed this weekend. It was into wood studs through drywall, and the installation was smooth and easy. I remember the kit came with parts and instructions for concrete/concrete block installations, but I don't remember seeing anything on my version for steel studs. One of the reasons I went with the Peerless over Panasonic's own wall mount was that it gave us additional horizontal play (8"), so that we could be sure to center it exactly where we wanted without having to worry where the studs were.

Is the horizonal play 4" in each direction for 8" total?

The back of the Plasma is less than 1 1/2 inches from the wall. The front of the Plasma screen is slightly less than 5 inches from the wall. It makes the room look a lot bigger.

i was wondering if anyone happened to know the dimensions of the plate that attaches to the wall on the peerless articulating wall mount.

to be more specfic, i know that it is about 16 inches wide (to mount on 16 inch studs), but can anyone tell me how tall the mounting bracket is? It doesn't need to be precise...just an idea.

If you are wondering why i want to know this, it is because my studs are centered on 20 inches, so i am going to mount a piece of plywood to the wall across 3 studs and then attach the plasma mount to the plywood. Not the prettiest solution, but i want to minimize the view of the plywood by only making it as tall as it needs to be for the mount.

thanks for any info.
