I purchased the TH42PX60U from my local CC on 1/3, since they price-matched a CompUSA sale last week, +25% of the difference (almost 500 bucks between the two stores). Unfortunately, they were out of stock. I called the store yesterday...none in, none in the warehouse. I called CC's 800 number and was told the same. So how do I find out when/if it's ever going to come in? Is this model being phased out and will never arrive? The price was too good to pass up, so I don't want to cancel the order and wait for the possibility of another sale.

Well I pulled the trigger during the Thanksgiving Holiday Season for [EDIT]. I don't think you can find a better price than this. However, I will guess to say that it will be phased out by late next month. Although like the 42PX50U they will most likely have some 42PX60U's available until inventory is all sold out.

I think they are still catching up from Christmas. Call Panasonic directly and see if they are backordered on this model. It might give you some baseline as to when it will become available. I know when I was shopping for my 600U before Christmas I called Panasonic and they were 100+ units backordered.

I agree on the price being good, and not seeing it that low again for quite awhile. I got my Dad to pick one up at that price, instead of a more "expensive" Dell. Much nicer than my last-years' model 37" EDTV. for 50% in price.

I called Panasonic directly, as suggested. I was told that they do have this item in stock and in the warehouse.

I called CC back, and they are still "on backorder", both in the store and in the warehouse. Was told it could be 2-6 weeks from original order date, Jan 3.

CRAP!!! I'm going to have to follow up with a store manager or something tomorrow, but can't see it going far.

I just went through this same nonsense with CC. They couldn't tell me when it would be in, kept saying "call next week" then "call next week." I say bull. I cancelled mine, got a full refund, then bought it at BB (there were only 2 in stock at BB). Wound up being $150 less than CC. [EDIT]

Actually the 600U has been out and available for many many months now. It's a step up from the regular PX60U. Expect both of these models to be replaced by new ones in March or April or so . . . . and the new ones are all black !

How did you get this for $150 less than CC?

I think Circuit City is not in fact sold out. They just chose not to sell it this week b/c of CompUSA's $1299 price. Is this illegal?

I do not believe for a second that these tv's are on backorder. Is this illegal?

$150 less at BB? It just plain was, what can I tell you.
I had posted both prices but due to forum rules (and 'big brother's
edit) the prices were removed. Anyway, I didn't want to go through the hassle of getting a refund at CC then driving to BB to go through it all again, but bottom line is CC did not have any, period. I called their corporate HQ - none in store stock or warehouse. The store manager found 1 for me - it was an open box return about an hour and a half from where I live.
