just a simple question..but I hooked my 5.1 outputs into my Outlaw 990 7.1 bypass input. The Outlaw does not put any processing on that mode.

But what am I getting for sound processing from my BD-30? If it does not decode true-hd or DD internally than what am I hearing? The sound is much better that way than playing it through a coax or optical and letting the Outlaw apply DD or DPLIIX.

your BD-30 is decoding your audio, it is getting to the outlaw already processed. That is the best option for you if you are looking for utilizing the new codecs. The outlaw won't display this, but should indicate that you are utilizing the analog inputs.

Yes I understand that. but what is it, DD? True HD? or what? I assume that since it does not internally decode true HD then I am listening to DD or whatever I choose on the DVD itself. Is that correct?
