Need some info on this model and any tweaking that can be done with the service menu’s walk trough would be great!

Also are there any hidden settings in the service menu for enabling 1080i or 720p native without using the televisions built in down scalar?

Yep I did a search with zero results

Ok so are there any settings in the service menu that will turn *off* the down conversion performed by the television? I want to have the set display a true 720p or 1080i signal *without* down converting to 480p.

I read that there is a 4:3 Samsung EDTV CRT set that has the 1080i setting disabled by default, all you need to do is go into the service menu and enable 1080i to enjoy full res HDTV (without down scaling).

TIA

If your plasma TV only has 480 lines of pixels, then there are only two ways it can display a picture that has 720 lines. The first is to scale it down to 480 lines, and the second is to zoom in on the middle 480 lines and ignore the other 240. You can't add lines that the display doesn't physically have.
