There are discrete IR codes for Panny Power ON, OFF, and inputs in the RemoteCentral data base. However, as I understand it, they are in the Pronto hex format. Is there any way that MX-500 can be "programmed" to use these codes? The original Panny remote is toggle-type so MX-500 cannot "learn" from it. Does anybody know how to do it? Owners of Panny and MX-500, any experience?

head to radio shack and pick up an One-4-All remote. Just grab

a 15-2103 ~$13, but if they have a 15-2104, get that one 4 $10.

Once you get the OFA, you can program it with the panny discretes

and teach your MX from it. If you want, you can return it, but I'd keep it.

It's easy to convert Pronto Hex to OFA codes.

Once you find the right setup code for the panny (0250 I believe),

you would program 2 buttons w/ codes 022/026 for powerOn/powerOff.

You can also use discretes for Composite input and PC input selects.

Haven't found one for component that works yet.
