(first time on Forum) I started into HD with a Sony VPL-VW10HT and

a 6000 receiver. We have no OTA here, but the sat pix were great. So to record stuff, I ended up getting a 5000/modulator/DST50/HD1000 set, and have had it running just a few days. Some questions for those using same:

1. Can two HD1000's be used to copy a tape?

2. The manual sez the Pany set cannot be used with other FW devices,

and I had no luck with my camcorder. Is there a way around? Are there any other rx's that will drive the HD1000, or VCR's

that will work with the DST50?

3. Some recordings play back with two-four sound hiccups or more per minute. The worst was a movie with DD5.1. Is this a shortcoming of the DST50? Any cure?

4. Who is a good source for D-VHS tape?

Thanks for comments.

Thanks for those suggestions. I got hold of a Technics decoder, and the sound now works OK.

Two other things I found out:

1. the HD1000 is heat-sensitive and should not be stacked with anything that gets warm.

2. using the first 60 secs of a Panasonic 300 tape is not wise.
